JJC Alum Plays in the Oregon – Auburn BCS National Championship

Former Joliet Junior College football standout Brandon Williams got an opportunity this past Monday to fulfill the dream of a lifetime – he got to play in the BCS National Championship as a member of the University of Oregon football team.

Williams joined the Ducks to battle it out with Auburn University, though in the end, Auburn kicked a last second field goal to win the game by a score of 22-19.

Williams took rotations on the kickoff return team in the Auburn game. During the 2010 season, he saw action as a tight end for Oregon.

In the season opener vs. New Mexico, he had one catch for 19 yards. In a win at Tennessee, Brandon caught a reception for 29 yards.

Williams transferred to the University of Oregon after the 2009 football season at Joliet Junior College. While at JJC, he earned NJCAA All-American honors for his play on the field.

He led the Wolves with 56 receptions for 908 yards and seven touchdowns in 2009.

“Brandon Williams is a student-athlete that did everything right coming out of a junior college,” Head Football Coach Jeremy Richardson said. “He worked hard in the classroom as well as the gridiron to get where he is today. His future looks very bright in anything that he does.”
