High School Drafting Contest March 4

JJC’s Technical Department will host the 2011 Regional CAD/Drafting Competition on Friday, March 4, in the T-Building on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.

The contest, conducted by the Illinois Drafting Educator’s Association (IDEA), will take place in campus CADD labs from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Approximately 100 students from Lockport, Lemont, Ottawa, Romeoville, Lincoln-Way, Peotone, Joliet West, and Pontiac high schools will be participating.

The Illinois Drafting Educator’s Association (IDEA) Regional CADD Design & Drafting competition is held each year at JJC engages high school students in a challenging and competitive design environment intended to prepare them for the state competition held each year in Springfield, said Scott Boudreau, the IDEA Regional Director for Joliet Junior College, and Professor of computer aided design and drafting.

The state competition will be held April 30 at Illinois State University.
