JJC Students Honored at State Art Exhibition

Nineteen Joliet Junior College students exhibited their work in the 2011 Illinois Community College Juried Art Exhibition at Governors State University last month.

Of those, six JJC students were recognized with Merit and People’s Choice awards. Juror Doug Stapleton, associate curator of art at the Illinois State Museum in Chicago and adjunct faculty member at Columbia College Chicago, awarded fifteen out of 99 students with Best of Show, Merit and People’s Choice awards.

JJC award winners include Jessica Chadwick of Plainfield; Rachel Long of Elwood; Jason McDowell of Channahon; Rodrigo Montoya of Joliet; Timothy Schad of Godley; and Jenny Darby of Joliet.

JJC participants include Anastasiya Danoka of Joliet; Devin Morrissey of Bolingbrook; Jeremy Stehlin of Bolingbrook; Benjamin Rende of Morris; Gary Wilsterman of Custer Park; Heather Cochrane of New Lenox; Henra Hutchings of Plainfield; Allison Layman of Joliet; Marianne Nelson of Joliet; Peter Foskaris of Joliet; Christina Donisch of Channahon; Danny Martinez of Rockdale and Jill Phillips of Dwight.

The exhibition comprised over 100 works from students representing 18 Illinois community college including Joliet Junior College, College of Dupage, Kankakee Community College, Prairie State College, South Suburban College and the City of Colleges of Chicago.
