Musica Viva Concert March 13

The Fine Arts Department will present a faculty recital by Dr. Thomas Liley, saxophone, Tracey Ford, soprano, and Beth Hillenbrand Jones, piano, performing music of Bach, Schubert, Laitman, Ticheli, and Raskin on Sunday, March 13, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Admission is free.

Liley, a Yamaha Performing Artist of classical saxophone and professor of music at JJC, has performed throughout the United States and in China, Canada, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia in solo and chamber music recitals. A former member of the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., he recently performed, lectured, and taught at the Hong Kong International Saxophone Symposium.

Ford is an active teacher and performer throughout metropolitan Chicago. Currently, she teaches private lessons at the Hinsdale Center for the Arts, Maine West High School and Elk Grove Village High School. Since 2009, she has been an adjunct instructor at JJC where she teaches music appreciation and private lessons. Ford also serves on the board of Chicago National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Jones has been a member of the North Central College Piano Academy since 1980, serving as its director from 1988 to 1999. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda (national music honor society), holds the designation of Nationally Certified Teacher of Music from the Music Teachers National Association, and has been a contributing author to Keyboard Companion. She currently serves as director of the NCC Piano Academy’s Sonata-Sonatina Festival, held annually.
