JJC to Host Regional Drafting Competition March 2

Joliet Junior College’s Technical Department is hosting the 2012 Regional CAD/Drafting Competition on Friday, March 2, in the T-Building on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
The competition, conducted by the Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA), will take place in room T-1000 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Approximately 125 students from Coal City, Reed-Custer, Seneca, Lockport, Lemont, Ottawa, Rich Central, Joliet Central, Joliet West, Streator and Bolingbrook high schools will be participating.
The IDEA is a not-for-profit professional education organization with a mission of advancing the drafting occupation through education.
The competition engages high school students in a challenging and competitive design environment intended to prepare them for the state competition held each year in Springfield, says Scott Boudreau, the IDEA Regional Director for Joliet Junior College, and Professor of computer aided design and drafting.
The state competition will be held in Springfield on April 14.
