Faculty member takes the stage in Chicago theatre production

Speech and Theatre Professor Dr. Zach Bloomfield is playing the role of Captain Scott in Eclipse Theatre Company’s production of “Beyond the Horizon”, a Pulitzer Prize winning drama written by Eugene O’Neill. The play runs March 15 – April 22Faculty member takes the stage in Chicago theatre production at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago.
“It’s a well-respected theatre company, full of talented, dedicated artists,” said Dr. Bloomfield. “I have great respect for their mission.”
“Beyond the Horizon” is the opening play in Eclipse Theatre Company’s 2012 Eugene O’Neill season, and tells the story of two brothers: one a dreamer and the other a pragmatist, who share their love for the same woman. Their tale unfolds when the woman’s rejection of one brother and her marriage to another set the stage for discontent and disillusionment. Originally produced on Broadway in 1920, it was O’Neill’s first full-length play.
