Girl Scouts Tour Vet Tech

JJC’s Vet Tech program hosted two visits from Girl Scout Troop 450 in February and March, giving the girls an opportunity to not only earn merit badges and volunteer time, but also learn about important aspects of veterinary care for animals.Girl Scouts Tour Vet Tech

Dr. Scott Keller, coordinator of veterinary medical technology, led the presentations and tour of the facility. He discussed with the troop why spaying and neutering dogs and cats is beneficial for both animals and humans, as well as career paths for those interested in working with animals. The girls also got to spend time interacting with the dogs and cats currently housed in the Vet Tech program.

“I was impressed with the girls’ eagerness and ambition to learn,” said Dr. Keller. “It was the scout leader herself who took the initiative to contact me and arrange the visit, and they also went above and beyond by setting up their own newspaper drive, collecting papers that are much needed for the dogs and cats while they are here in our program.”
