JJC Annual Spring Scholarship Gala April 20

The public is invited to the Joliet Junior College Annual Spring Scholarship Gala, Friday, April 20, on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The event will help raise funds for scholarships awarded to culinary arts and hospitality students.
Spring Gala scholarships, established through the college’s Culinary Arts Department, are available to students who have completed one semester in the culinary arts or hospitality programs. Last year, the event raised $16,000, providing approximately 30 scholarships.JJC Annual Spring Scholarship Gala April 20
The gala provides both hospitality and culinary students with the opportunity to prepare, cook and serve in a fine dining environment, said Chef Michael McGreal, professor and Culinary Arts and Hospitality chairman at JJC. He added that the scholarships provide both and education and the chance for students to prepare for a life long and rewarding career.
Guests will enjoy an evening of fine dining, desserts and wine. The evening beginning at 6 p.m. on the JJC Bridge with hors d’ oeuvres and will continue in the cafeteria with a five-course dinner.
The menu includes:
  • Sautéed East Coast flounder with poached flounder and shrimp terrine
  • Roasted wild game bird consommé with petite rosemary semolina dumpling, smoked pheasant and duck, root vegetable mosaic, root vegetable garnish
  • Roasted ribeye of lamb with garlic herb crust and Madeira lamb jus, braised lamb with black truffle potato sponge, garlic potato mousseline, horseradish foam, crisp potato, glazed carrot, broccolini, creamed lacinato kale with smoked lamb
