Community Band Spring Concert May 6

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Community Band will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
 
The concert, under the direction of Charles Morgan, JJC music coordinator and director of bands, will offer something for everyone: marches, transcriptions, and original compositions. The first half of the concert will include “the Washington Post,” by John Philip Sousa and Steven Reineke’s Symphony No. 1, “A New Day Rising.”

The second half of the concert will feature “Monkey Business,” a circus march, by David Lovrien; “Andrea Chenier” by Umberto Giordano and transcribed by J.J. Richards; “Aegina and Bacchanalia” from “Spartacus” by Aram Khachaturian; “Kaddish” by W. Francis McBeth; “Opening Night on Broadway” arranged by Michael Brown featuring songs from the popular musicals, “Wicked,” “The Lion King” and many more. The concert will conclude with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.

 
The JJC Community Band is proud to be celebrating over 30 years of musical excellence. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for JJC faculty and staff, non-JJC students, and senior citizens; and $2 for JJC students.
