JJC Presents Musica Viva Recital April 29

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Fine Arts Department’s Musica Viva Recital Series will present a free recital on Sunday, April 29, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
Associate Fine Arts Professor, Daniela Broderick, piano, and guest musicians Florentina Ramniceanu, violin, and Mark Lekas, cello, will perform music of Beethoven, Brahms and Piazzolla.
Broderick completed her D.M.A. in piano performance and literature at the University of Illinois in 2009. She has performed throughout Brazil and the U.S. including performances with the Rio de Janeiro Federal University Orchestra, Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Saturdays with Brahms Series in Colorado.
Ramniceanu, a native to Romania, is a founding member of the Orion Ensemble. She graduated with honors from the Bucharest Conservatory of Music and has studied with some of the world’s leading violinists including David Oistrach and Stefan Gheorghiu. Ramniceanu has performed in numerous nationally broadcasted series and has played with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera Orchestra.
Lekas studied at the Eastman School of Music with Paul Katz of the Cleveland String Quartet. He was a member of the New American Chamber Orchestra, the New World Symphony and the Salem String Quartet. He currently enjoys an active musical life with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. He is also a substitute cellist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and plays musicals for Broadway in Chicago.
