Joliet Junior College Hosts Retirement Planning Workshops in May

JJC will host two workshops in May entitled “Retirement Planning Today: an Educational Course for Adults Ages 50 to 70” at the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
Course 1 is May 15 and 22 (Tuesdays), 6 – 9:30 p.m.; Course 2 is May 10 and 17 (Thursdays), 6 – 9:30 p.m.
The course will show attendees how to assess their financial situation and develop a personalized plan to achieve their retirement goals. Topics include alternative income sources, transferring the risk of potential financial losses, estate planning, investments, retirement needs and expenses, retirement roadblocks and mistakes, retirement plan distributions, and risk management and protection.
Due to recent tax law changes, an uncertain future for Social Security and other government programming, and the shift toward employee-directed retirement plans, the need for sound financial strategies has increased.
“There’s a whole body of knowledge associated with retirement planning,” Dave Carl, course teacher and licensed financial consultant, said. “It’s critically important to have an actual retirement plan.”
This course, offered through JJC’s Plus 50 Workforce Center, will answers these essential questions. In addition, complimentary consultations will be given after the course.

The cost is $60 and includes a textbook and two days of instruction by qualified financial professionals. Attendees may bring one guest at no additional charge.
