New Vice President of Student Development Hired

On May 10, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Yolanda Isaacs as the college’s new vice president of student development. Isaacs’ first day is June 18.

Currently the Dean of Student Services at Moraine Valley Community College, Isaacs has worked in higher education for 18 years, specifically in the area of student development.
Her experience includes posts as the assistant dean of students at DePaul University from 2000-2004 and residential life area coordinator from 1996-2000; as well as two years at JJC as director of minority student affairs from 2004-2006. In addition, she has taught courses at both DePaul and National Louis University.
“Serving as a voice for students continues to be my passion both professionally and personally,” Isaacs said. “Because of the mission of community colleges, engaging faculty and staff regarding the continuing assessment of resources and services to promote student success is fundamentally important.”
“Community colleges provide an opportunity for all students to learn and develop,” she added. “Creating seamless student services with a focus on user-friendly technology will contribute to the success of students.”
Isaacs received her doctorate in educational leadership from DePaul University in 2011; her master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois in school administration in 1995; and her bachelor’s degree in political science from Eastern Illinois University in 1993.
