Nine Members of 2012 Wolves Baseball Team Honored by NJCAA

Nine members of JJC’s 2012 national championship baseball team have received National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and region III honors.Nine Members of 2012 Wolves Baseball Team Honored by NJCAA
Freshman second baseman Luke Andrade, of New Lenox, received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NJCAA Division III Player of the Year award. This is the second time in JJC baseball history that a player has received this award; Brandon Howard received it in 2008.
Andrade was named MVP of the DIII World Series and has secured a spot on both the first DIII All-American team and first All-Region team. Andrade finished the season with a .396 batting average with 95 hits (20 doubles, 5 triples), 67 RBIs, and 53 runs scored.
Sophomore outfielder Trey Russell, of Urbana, was named DIII All-American second team and first team All-Region. Russell had a .394 batting average with 91 hits (22 doubles, 5 triples), 63 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
Trevor Vermillion and Casey Papp, both of Joliet and Dan Eliopulos, of Tinley Park, were named to DIII World Series All-Tournament team. Eliopulos was also named as first team North Central Community College Conference (N4C) All-Conference.
The following students also received honors:
• Austin Vazquez, of Joliet, second team N4C All-Conference
• Dakota Brown, of Minooka, Region IV Tournament MVP
• Jared Steck, of Normal, first team All-Region
• Alex Parks, of Plainfield, second team All-Region
