Three Female Student Athletes Honored by NJCAA

Three Joliet Junior College (JJC) student athletes have received academic awards from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their exceptional work in the classroom.
The students who received honors include: women’s soccer player Thamara Magadan, of Joliet, who earned the NJCAA Superior Academic Achievement Student Athlete award as well as women’s cross country athlete Sabrina Larson, of Joliet, and women’s softball player Melissa Gretz, of Wilmington, who earned the Exemplary Academic Achievement award.
 
Nearly 60,000 student athletes competed in the NJCAA on over 3,500 teams in 28 different sports. Of those athletes, over 1,680 met the requirements for individual academic honors. Each student was required to maintain a 3.60 GPA for at least three consecutive semesters.
