“At Joliet Junior College, we are committed to honoring the men and women who serve our country for our freedom,” said Board Chair Barbara DeLaney. “This year, we have decided to start a new initiative to recognize and honor the fallen soldiers who lived within our seven-county district. As elected officials, we feel it is our duty to set an example.”
DeLaney said that at the beginning of future board meetings, there will be time set aside to pay tribute to the service and patriotism of these fallen soldiers with a pinning ceremony.

The ceremony opened with a posting of the colors performed by VFW Cantigny Post 367, Joliet, led by Commander Tony Arellano. Ron O’Malley, a U.S. Marine and president of the Veterans Alliance Club, followed with opening remarks.

The families of Spec. Jacob M. Lowell (Army), Sgt. Joshua Terando (Army/National Guard), and Sgt. Jonathan Crump (Army) were then presented with pins in the special ceremony led by members of the JJC Veterans Alliance organization.
