JJC Holds Auditions for Fall Play Aug. 28 and 29

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Fine Arts Department will hold auditions for “W;t” on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 3 and 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
Students interested in auditioning should prepare a one- to two-minute monologue. Monologues do not need to be memorized, however greater consideration will be given to those who do memorize their piece.
“W;t,” written by American playwright Margaret Edson, won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Lucille Lortel Award. The play takes place during the final hours of the life of Dr. Vivan Bearing, a university professor of English, who is dying of cancer. Over the course of the play, Vivian reflects on her life through the intricacies of the English language, especially the use of wit in the metaphysical poetry of John Donne.
