Wolves Baseball Team Receives National Championship Rings

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) baseball team was recognized as the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III National Champions at a ring ceremony held on Aug. 13.Wolves Baseball Team Receives National Championship Rings
The Wolves finished the 2012 season with a 37-29 overall record and in addition to being named the NJCAA DIII champions, were named District B Champions, Region IV Champions, and Sectional Champions.
The ceremony opened with JJC President Dr. Debra Daniels, who presented Head Coach Wayne L. King, Jr. with a national championship ring. This is JJC’s third national championship under Coach King (2012, 2008, 1994).
“Each year is special,” said King. “This is the first [national championship] for these kids, and to see the gleam in their eyes when they received their rings is the most rewarding part of being a coach.”
The ceremony continued with Coach King presenting each player with a ring as Assistant Coach Gregg Braun formally introduced each player to the stage.
The players that received a ring include: Cody Krilich of Lansing, Mike Hamilton of Crest Hill, Jonathan Rosario of Chicago, Nick Filleti of Mokena Jake Keefe of Mokena, Nick Gould of Channahon, Tim Blaha of Hickory Hills, Kaleb Strothman of Sandwich, Colin Hart of Homer Glen, Sam O’Shea of Valparaiso, Garret Rhodes of Burbank, Dominic Olszta of Joliet, Rick Gazarek of Plainfield, Nick Filleti and Jake Keefe of Mokena, and Cole Judy, Tyler Willis, and AJ Woynerowski all of Homer Glen.
In addition to the ring presentation, nine players received All-American, All-Conference, and All-Region certificates. Those players include: Luke Andrade, of New Lenox, Trey Russell of Urbana, Dan Eliopulos of Tinley Park, Jared Steck of Normal, Alex Parks of Plainfield, Dakota Brown of Minooka and Casey Papp, Austin Vazquez and Trevor Vermillion all of Joliet.
