JJC to Host 9/11 Memorial Event on Tuesday, Sept. 11


To honor the memories of those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001, Joliet Junior College will host a memorial ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 8:45 a.m. on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.JJC to Host 9/11 Memorial Event on Tuesday, Sept. 11


The ceremony will be held at the Alumni Bell Tower, which is located in front of the Campus Center. The public is invited to attend.

The Will County Sherriff’s Rifle Squad, the Joliet Police Department Color Guard and the Joliet Fire Department Pipe and Drum Unit will also participate in the outdoor ceremony, which will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. and is expected to last 30 – 45 minutes. Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 8:35 a.m.


Following the event, there will be a video tribute in the cafeteria and a presentation by Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan, who will speak about his experience helping with recovery at the World Trade Center site. Refreshments will also be served.
