Musica Viva Faculty Recital Sunday, Oct. 14

The Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department will present a faculty recital by Thomas Liley, saxophone, and guest Matthew Gianforte, piano, performing music of Johannes Brahms, Jindřich Feld, and Claude Debussy.Musica Viva Faculty Recital Sunday, Oct. 14
 
The recital begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, in the Fine Arts Theatre on the college’s Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet. Admission is free.Liley, a Yamaha Performing Artist of classical saxophone and JJC music professor, has performed throughout the United States and in China, Canada, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia in solo and chamber music recitals and as a soloist. This past summer he performed and lectured in Scotland as part of the 600th anniversary of St. Andrews University.

Gianforte, coordinator of the keyboard faculty at Murray State University in Kentucky, enjoys an active career as a soloist, collaborator, and teacher, having performed across the United States and abroad. Highlights of past seasons include successful debut appearances at Weill Recital Hall (New York), and Sarada and Philia Halls in Japan.
