JJC and Partners Host Community Resource and Employment Fair Oct. 29

Joliet Junior College Workforce Development has partnered with other local organizations to host a Community Resource and Employment Fair on Monday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 411 South Larkin Avenue in Joliet.JJC and Partners Host Community Resource and Employment Fair Oct. 29
Learn about job opportunities and community resources, come prepared to interview, and bring a current resume. Clothing is also available for interviews by calling Nancy at (815) 723-3870. In addition to the fair, a free workshop, “How to Make the Most of a Job Fair” will take place before the event from 1 to 2 p.m.
Partner organizations include Catholic Charities Early Childhood Services Division, Rasmussen College, and University of St. Francis Career Services.
To prep jobseekers for the fair, a kick-off will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the JJC City Center Campus, 214 North Ottawa Street in Joliet. The first 10 participants to register will receive free resume paper, thank you and networking business cards.
The kickoff will focus on teaching the key aspects of preparing for job fairs and interviews:
– Attire: Dress for Success. Get advice on making a best first impression.
– Hair/Make-up: Tips for interview-appropriate hair and make-up.
– Resumes: Guidance on creating or updating your resume.
– Research: Learn how to job search efficiently with internet tools.
– Introductions: Be prepared to approach and speak with employers. Discuss and practice your introduction.
