JJC Chorale Carols and Chocolate Concert Dec. 9

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Chorale presents its 11th Annual Carols and Chocolate Concert on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
Following the concert, the audience is invited to a complimentary buffet of chocolate delights donated by local businesses as well as by members of the chorale.
The program, selected by Conductor Philip Spencer, will feature a variety of choral music for the holiday season. The major work will be “A Day for Dancing”, by the noted American composer and conductor Lloyd Pfautsch. This work presents the Christmas story through nine medieval carols from several different European countries. The performance will feature student soloists and instrumentalists in addition to the 45-voice community choir.
In addition, several of the carols will be danced by students from La Danse Academie of Joliet and Plainfield under the direction of Lori Bowen.
The concert will also include a variety of interesting and entertaining holiday carols and anthems including “Chanukah Prayer for Children”; “Shepherds on This Hill”; “Caroling, Caroling”; “Mister Santa”; and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” In addition, the chorale’s director will lead the audience in a jazzy carol sing-along from the piano.
Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Theatre Box Office one hour prior to the concert. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for JJC faculty and staff, non-JJC students, and senior citizens; and $2 for JJC students.
