JJC Fine Arts Presents “The Taming of the Shrew” Nov. 15- 18

The JJC Fine Arts Department Theatre presents “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare Thursday, Nov. 15 – 18 in the Fine Arts on Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The production is directed by Clay Kirkland.
Shakespeare’s zany take on the battle of the sexes has been delighting audiences for centuries. In addition to countless productions of the original script, “The Taming of the Shrew“ has also inspired opera, musical theatre (Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me, Kate”) and film (“10 Things I Hate About You”). Often criticized in modern times for its misogynistic tone, the text can evoke debate as tumultuous as Katherina and Petruchio’s relationship. Come see exactly who tames whom when JJC Theatre stages this classic comedy.

Tickets are $8 for the general public, $5 for seniors, and additional discounts are available for JJC faculty, staff and all students. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the box office at (815) 280-2200. Visa, Master Card and Discover are now being accepted.

Additionally, as part of an ongoing community service initiative within the college, audience members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items which can be exchanged for items at the concession stand. All contributions will be donated to area shelters.
