JJC Jazz Band Winter Concert with Morris High School Dec. 7

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Jazz Band will perform its annual Winter Jazz Concert on Friday, Dec 7, in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
 
The concert will open with a special guest—the Morris High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Donald Stinson—at 7:30 p.m.
 
The JJC Jazz Band, led by Charles Morgan, JJC music coordinator and director of bands, will perform a number of jazz songs and arrangements which include “Hullabaloo” by Alan Baylock, “Dat Dere” by Bobby Timmons, “Count Bubba” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” by Gordon Goodwin, “Fun Time” by Sammy Nestico, “A Mis Abuelos” by Arturo Sandoval, “Outside In, And Another Thing…” by Tom Garling, “Away in a Manger” arranged by Tom Kubis, “Cut and Paste” by Doug Beach, “Back to the Basement” by Bret Zvacek, and “Next Season” by Thomas Matta.
 
Student soloists will include Mark Grossi of Naperville on alto sax; Chad Taylor of Ottawa and Nancy Lehman of Joliet on tenor saxophone; Kerry Erb of Joliet on baritone sax; Ron Magiera of New Lenox and Steve Grabavoy of Naperville on trumpet; William Cooper of Joliet and Paul Hanko of New Lenox on trombone; and Janice Murphy of Orland Park on piano.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, non-JJC students, JJC faculty and staff and $2 for JJC students.
 
The JJC Jazz Band is a community jazz band and is open to community members of at least high school age. There is no audition fee and participants may register for course credit or choose to take part for no credit. The group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9:45 p.m. each semester.
