JJC Fine Arts Presents “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” April 18-21

The JJC Fine Arts Department Theatre presents “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” by Tennessee Williams April 18-21 in the Fine Arts Theatre on Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Show times are April 18-20 at 7:30 p.m., and April 20-21 at 2 p.m.

Winner of the 1955 Pulitzer Prize for drama, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” is set in a plantation house where family members are celebrating the 65th birthday of “Big Daddy”, as they sentimentally dub him. The tone is light but the mood is somber, for a number of old evils poison the gaiety – sins of the past, greedy hopes for the future, and a desperate eagerness not to believe in the truths that surround them. The truth invariably terrifies them. That is one thing they cannot face or speak.
The New York Times called it “A stunning drama… It is the quintessence of life. It is the basic truth.”
This production is directed by Nicki Blowers. The production is stage managed by Chris Floyd of Elwood and is assisted by Emma McGee of Joliet and Danielle Rose of Lockport. The cast includes:
