The “Pirates of the CUREbbean,” as the JJC NSA called their team, had an initial goal of $1,500. There were 16 members on the team.
Top donators on the team were Lisa Lindaur with $440; Shannon Becker with $360; and Nicole Barnes with $148.
Altogether, 273 participants from the three institutions raised a total of $21,683.99.
Although the total for 2013 was about $10,000 less than what was raised last year, the collaboration between the three colleges continues to work very well each year.
“I think it’s a wonderful community event with our sister institutions here in the Joliet and Romeoville area,” said Amy Sims, JJC Relay for Life organizer. “I believe the student participation is a way for them to step up and support their community as a whole, support their family, friends, and loved ones.”
The 2013 Relay for Life event was held on Saturday, April 13.
