Dogs and Cats Available for Adoption Through JJC Vet Tech Program

The following animals are now available for adoption through the JJC Vet Tech program. All animals up for adoption will be up-to-date on vaccination, and spayed/neutered by the time they go home at the end of the semester. Each animal’s adoption fee is $35. All of the adoptable cats have all of their claws, but they can possibly be declawed upon request. Animals can be taken home for weekends if scheduled.

JJC vet tech students have been working with these animals in their labs all semester. Vet tech students come out of the program with experience in administering medication, surgical skills, taking x-rays, nursing care and more.

The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that veterinary technicians will be one of the fastest growing jobs, with an excellent outlook projected through 2018. After graduation, JJC vet tech students go on to a number of different veterinary fields such as large and small animal private practices, facilities for medical research, pharmaceutical companies, pet food manufacturers, wildlife facilities, and emergency room and intensive care units.

These animals have helped JJC students establish a foundation in veterinary studies.

To schedule a time to meet these amazing animals, please contact Meghan Kamba at 815-729-9020 x2765 or mkamba@jjc.edu. Any animal not adopted by the end of the fall sememster will be returned to Joliet Township Animal Control.
