Nancy Skroko, JJC Bookstore office assistant and new author of historical romance novel “Live For Tomorrow,” invites the public to two book signings on Thursday, Dec. 5 on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet, in A-1002. One signing is from noon to 1:30 p.m. and the second will be from 6-7:30 p.m.
“Live For Tomorrow,” partly based on Skroko’s grandmother’s life in Germany, follows Karina Winkler and her spellbinding romance with World War I soldier Derek von Kampler. Karina and Derek get married, but the celebration doesn’t last for long. Derek gets sent back to war, and Karina struggles to adjust to the obvious disapproval from her mother-in-law, and Derek’s sister, Fredericka. Then, tragedy strikes.
At the beginning of each signing, Skroko, who is also a JJC alumna, will give a 10-minute presentation about her book, opening up for questions at the end. “Live For Tomorrow” can also be purchased at the signings.
Skroko said her book has appealed to both men and women. In addition to the element of romance, a good part of the story is about the war. She is excited about the book signings because she wants to meet her readers.
“I’m excited to talk to people who love to read and enjoy historical romances,” she said.
“Live For Tomorrow,” is close to Skroko’s heart because she worked for 26 years to put it together before it was published last summer. So far, the JJC Bookstore has sold 28 copies. “Live For Tomorrow” can be purchased at the JJC Bookstore, Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Inspiringvoices.com, or at Skroko’s website, www.livefortomorrownovelbynancyskroko.com. The book is also available in e-book format.
