Cor Cantiamo to Perform in JJC Musica Viva Series Feb. 9 at Historic St. Joseph Catholic Church

The Cor Cantiamo vocal ensemble will perform in Joliet Junior College’s Musica Viva series, hosted by the Fine Arts Department, on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert will take place in the Historic St. Joseph Catholic Church in the City Center of Joliet at 416 N. Chicago Street. The public is invited and admission is free.

Cor Cantiamo, founded in 2009, is comprised of alumni of the choral program at Northern Illinois University. The group performs choral contemporary music and all members are professional musicians. Eric A. Johnson D.M.A., director of choral activities at NIU, leads the group. Johnson’s ensembles have performed at the national, division and state level.

In the past, Cor Cantiamo has performed at Aurora University, Freeport Community College, and Beloit College, among many others.

The 2013-2014 Musica Viva season is dedicated to the memory of Musica Viva’s creator, Dr. Thomas Liley, a long time JJC professor, who passed away unexpectedly in 2013.
