The public can vote in Joliet Junior College’s Recycled Art Show this Earth Day, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Main Campus South Bridge at 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
This is the fourth year JJC Student Government members are hosting the Recycled Art Show in celebration of Earth Day.
The show will feature artwork made up of at least 75 percent recycled materials.
The Recycled Art Show always attracts the curiosity of passing students and others because the possibilities are endless. Last year, entries included a shirt made out of bottle caps and duct tape, and a bicycle sculpture made of paper mache, chicken wire and rubber.
Pam Dilday, JJC’s director of student activities and campus life, said the artwork is a way for students, faculty and staff to utilize recycled materials in a creative way.
“Some people, I think were shocked, amazed, and surprised at the creativity of others,” she said. “For students, it’s a way for them to showcase their creativity.”
First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded $100, $75 and $50 gift cards respectively.
