JJC Foundation 5K Raises More than $35,000 for Student Scholarships

The JJC Foundation raised $36,300 for student scholarships at the sixth annual 5K Run and Walk held on Saturday, May 3. More than 350 registrants participated in the race this year, and more than 40 children took part in the one-mile kids run.

“We’re pleased to have had yet another successful event raising money for student scholarships at JJC,” said Executive Director of Resource Development Kristi Mulvey. “We appreciate the support of our generous donors, which has helped us provide scholarships for local high school students coming to JJC.  This is just one more way in which JJC seeks to keep education affordable for its students.”

Since the Foundation began the annual 5K event six years ago, a total of $159,500 has been raised for scholarships for local high school seniors with a 3.25 or higher GPA. Last year, altogether, the Foundation awarded nearly $800,000 in scholarship money to more than 450 students.
