JJC to Hold 98th May Commencement Ceremony on May 16

Joliet Junior College will hold its 98th spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 16 at 6 p.m. in the Lewis University Fieldhouse, One University parkway in Romeoville. Approximately 470 graduates are expected to participate in this year’s ceremony.

This is the fifth JJC graduation ceremony to be held at Lewis University. Due to overcrowding in the gym and an increasing numbers of graduates, the Board of Trustees approved the venue change to Lewis University at its October 2009 meeting to accommodate a sufficient number of guests for each graduate.

This year’s featured student speaker is Inge-Martin Tverborgvik, a JJC business major and international student from Norway. The 2014 Student Service Recognition Award winner is Elizabeth Dykstra, an army veteran and JJC nursing student. This award recognizes individual student involvement at JJC and in the community.
