The Joliet Junior College Guitar and Percussion Ensembles will perform on Tuesday, on the Main Campus Fine Arts Theatre, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet, on May 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will open with the Guitar Ensemble under the direction of instructor Adam Roth. The Guitar Ensemble features JJC students Audrey Schmidt of Channahon, Dan Winter of Homer Glen, Richard Flynn and Leslie Hodges of Joliet, Jackie Huntley of New Lenox, Conner Brauer of Plainfield, and Nick Koss of Shorewood. The ensemble will play compositions by Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Andrew York, as well as traditional Mexican music and Motown.
The JJC Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of instructor Adam Cowger, will feature guest artist Dr. Jamie Ryan from Eastern Illinois University, as well as JJC students Michael Berrian of Chicago; Jimmy Coggins, Autumn Frykholm, Thomas Robinson and Salvador Rodriguez of Joliet; Allen Cotton of Bolingbrook; Michael Faloona, Daniel May and Ryan Purcell of Frankfort; Anna Geyer of Shorewood; Maxwell Johnson and Nicholas Pappas of Plainfield; Kyle McComb of Channahon; Marco Medina and Jonathan Miska of Romeoville; Trevor Stetzel of Peotone; Matthew Stover of New Lenox; and Sarah Webb of Crest Hill. The ensemble will play works by Bela Fleck, David Gillingham, Lynn Glassock, Christopher Rouse, Poncho Sanchez, and traditional drumming from Cuba and Brazil.
