Prospective Students Can Explore JJC Programs Nov. 1

High school students, their families and others thinking about going back to school are invited to explore Joliet Junior College’s academic departments, programs and student services during Discover JJC on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Those attending should park in lots E-1, E-2 and E-3 and enter through the Campus Center (A-Building).

Discover JJC, Spring 2014

At Discover JJC, many academic departments, programs, and JJC resource offices will be hosting open houses. Attendees will be given a map upon arrival, and are invited to visit any open house they choose. Other departments not participating in the open houses will have tables set up, located in the A-Building and C-E Concourse.

Departments, programs, and JJC resource offices that will host open houses during Discover JJC include:

  • Agriculture
  • Horticulture
  • Nursing and Allied Health
  • Fire Science/Emergency Services
  • Radiologic Technology/Sonography
  • Business
  • Honors Program
  • Automotive Service Technology
  • Technical
  • Fine Arts
  • Social and Behavior Sciences
  • Admissions Office
  • Career Services Center
  • Student Accommodations and Resources (StAR)
  • Office of Multicultural Student Affairs
  • The Bookstore
  • The Library

In addition to the open houses, two presentations will be offered during Discover JJC as well:

• “Getting Started At JJC” will go over transfer information, ACT placement, and other requirements. 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. Room A-1061
• “Paying for College” will answer financial aid questions. 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. Room A-1002

All participants are also invited to bring their cars to the JJC automotive lab for a free winter maintenance check up during Discover JJC.

There will be refreshments served and potential students can enter themselves into a raffle to win an iPod or a $50 JJC Bookstore gift certificate.
