JJC’s ‘Carols and Chocolate’ Set for Sunday, Dec. 14

The public is invited to celebrate the season at the Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department’s 13th annual “Carols and Chocolate” concert, performed by the JJC Chorale, on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. JJC Conductor and Fine Arts Professor Philip Spencer will lead the concert, which will also feature the JJC Brass Quintet, conducted by Director of Bands Charles Morgan.

A complimentary buffet of chocolate desserts donated by local businesses and members of the JJC Chorale will be offered to the audience after the performances.

This year’s program will feature a variety of holiday music, including:

  • “Magnificat” by Kevin Memley
  • “Dai Diddle Dai” (Hanukkah Carol)
  • “The Little Drummer Boy”
  • “The Twelve Days After Christmas”

Several students will be featured as soloists and instrumentalists throughout the evening. The concert will conclude with a jazzy sing-along with the audience, led by Spencer on piano.

Tickets will be available at the Fine Arts Theatre Box Office beginning one hour before the concert. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and non-JJC students; and $2 for JJC students.

Carols and Chocolates Concert

The JJC Chorale is a 40-voice community choir made up of high school students, JJC students, and community members. New members are welcome to join the JJC Chorale at the beginning of each semester, without audition. Tenors and basses are especially welcome.

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. during the school year in Room K-1003 on the Main Campus. Rehearsals for spring semester will begin Jan. 13.
