‘MadriGala 2014: Something Olde, Something Yule’ at JJC Friday, Dec. 12

The Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department will present the 37th annual MadriGala concert, “Something Olde, Something Yule” on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The public is invited to this festive event, which will feature merry madrigals and carols, pageantry, dance, and humor performed by the JJC Chamber Singers, JJC Brass Quintet, and JJC Jesters.

The JJC Chamber Singers, the college’s auditioned choral ensemble, will also perform a number of traditional madrigals as well as seasonal carols from around the world in several languages.

During intermission, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served on the Bridge, prepared by JJC culinary arts students under the supervision of Chef Kyle Richardson. The JJC Brass Quintet will also entertain audience members with Renaissance and seasonal music during the intermission.

The MadriGala staff includes Musical Director of MadriGala and Director of Choral and Vocal Music Philip Spencer; Director of Bands and JJC Music Coordinator Charles Morgan; and JJC Stage Manager and Drama Director Nicki Blowers.

Tickets are $12 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling the Fine Arts Theatre Box Office at 815-280-2200. The deadline for purchasing advance tickets is Wednesday, Dec. 10, although a few tickets may be available at the door. Seating is limited and will be assigned.
