Families Can Adopt Animals from JJC’s Vet Tech Department until May 1

The Joliet Junior College Veterinary Medical Technology Department is looking for families to adopt cats and dogs from now until Friday, May 1.

Most animals up for adoption will be up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed/neutered by the time they go home with their families. Typical adoption fee is $50. Any animals not adopted will be returned to TLC Animal Shelter.

JJC vet tech students have been working with these cats and dogs in their labs all semester. Vet tech students come out of the program with experience in administering medication, surgical skills, taking x-rays, nursing care and more. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that veterinary technicians are one of the fastest growing jobs, with a 30 percent job growth expectancy by 2020.

To schedule a time to meet these amazing animals, please contact Meghan Yucaitis at 815-729-9020 x2765 or mkamba@jjc.edu. To adopt an animal after the May 1 date, contact the TLC Animal Shelter, located at 13016 West 151st St. in Homer Glen, at 708-301-1594.
