The public is invited to a spring concert at Joliet Junior College featuring the JJC Guitar and Percussion Ensembles on Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The guitar ensemble is under the direction of JJC adjunct instructor Adam Roth and the percussion ensemble is under the direction of JJC adjunct instructor Adam Cowger.
Tickets are $5 for the public, $4 for students and seniors and $2 for JJC students.
The concert will open with Roth, on guitar, performing a classical composition by J.S. Bach. JJC students Jackie Huntley and Nicolas Kemp-Bystrzycki of New Lenox, and Tim Podgorny of Manhattan will then perform several Baroque and Renaissance selections with Roth.
The JJC percussion ensemble will perform music by Coltrane, Daughtrey, Gershwin, Glassock, Green, and Sting. They will also demonstrate traditional Brazilian samba drumming. Percussion ensemble members include Alvah Bickner III, Nicholas Pappas and Curtis Snow of Plainfield; Meshach Bonaparte-Coggins, Steve Cowger and Autumn Frykholm of Joliet; Danielle Dileto, Leah Norris and Logan Stefanich of Channahon; Anna Geyer and Cory Simonich of Shorewood; Marco Medina of Romeoville; Matt Stover of New Lenox; Sophia Svoboda of Lockport; and Sarah Webb of Crest Hill.
