The Joliet Junior College Farmers Market will host a Back-to-School Fair that will include fun activities for all ages, an opportunity to learn about the college, and local vendors on Thursday, Aug. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the JJC Greenhouse on Houbolt Road.
Food will also be available, including Angus grilled hamburgers made from local beef, funnel cakes, fruit smoothies, caramel corn, candy apples, lemon shake-ups and more. JJC Farmers Market vendors will have plenty of fresh offerings for attendees to purchase as well.
“The Back-to-School Fair is a great opportunity to interact with the JJC community and the outside community while supporting our local small businesses. It’s also a great way to find out a little more about JJC,” said Dorothy Rosier, JJC Farmers Market manager. “If you’ve never gotten the chance to stop by the Greenhouse during our Farmers Market, the Back-to-School Fair is the perfect time to go because we’ll have more vendors than ever – and a lot of other fun things for families as well.”
Activities at the fair will include:
- Free face painting
- Free hayrack rides
- Free massages
- Touch a Truck hosted by the local S.W.A.T. team
- Worm composting demonstration
In addition to cash and credit/debit cards, the Farmers Market also accepts LINK cards. Anyone who uses $10 on their LINK card at any of JJC’s Farmers Markets will receive an additional $10 in tokens thanks to generous donations made by area community groups. JJC’s Farmers Market features more than 25 vendors of locally produced fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and handcrafted products. The JJC Farmers Market takes place every Thursday during the summer until Sept. 17.
