The Joliet Junior College Faculty Union has awarded $8,700 in scholarships to local college-bound students this year.
“As faculty, we know the value of a college education,” said Fulltime Faculty Union President Bob Marcink. “We also understand that the cost of education has continued to rise, although we have done our best to restrain costs at JJC. Through our scholarship fund, we are excited to play a small role in helping students earn their degrees and pursue their dreams.”
Students from the JJC service area and children of employees who can demonstrate they are enrolled in a post-secondary school—whether JJC or a four-year college—are eligible to apply. All applicants must fill out an application and write a short essay. Points are awarded based on various criteria including grades, extracurricular activities and community service.
