Community Invited to Participate in JJC’s Haunted 5K Hosted by Athletics, the Foundation Oct. 25

The Joliet Junior College Foundation and Athletic Department invite the community to help raise money for student scholarships, college programs and athletics by registering for the Haunted 5K Run and Walk, happening on Sunday, Oct. 25 on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes in this themed race, which marks the first year the Athletic Department and JJC Foundation will combine their annual 5Ks into one event.

A $100 cash award and a Halloween-themed trophy will be granted to the top overall male and female winner. The top three winners in each age and gender category will receive either a plaque or medal. A trophy will be awarded to the fastest runner in costume. Children participating in the one-mile race will receive prizes as well.

The Haunted 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a one-mile kids race for children ages 12 and under, and the 5K will begin at 9 a.m. The course is a certified flat loop pavement primarily located across campus.

After the race, runners and their families are encouraged to stay for candy, snacks, awards and more.

The entry fee for the 5K is $30 for those who register now through Oct. 18, and $35 for those who register after that date. The kids’ race is $10. The first 300 registered people (including children) will receive a Haunted 5K winter hat. Participants can also register before the race, with registration beginning at 7 a.m.
