The community is invited to a Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department production of “Stop, Kiss,” directed by Associate Fine Arts Professor Tammy Perkins, on Oct. 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. and on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the JJC Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
“Stop, Kiss” is a play about Sara and Callie, two women who get violently attacked after their first kiss in New York, which results in Sara falling into a coma. The story jumps between past and present and explores the growing romantic feelings between the two leading women.
“Stop, Kiss,” written by Diana Son, was first performed in 1998 at the Public Theatre in New York City.
JJC’s cast includes Donnea Jackson of Joliet as a nurse; Latoya Collins of Bolingbrook as Mrs. Winsley; Michael Bonano of Joliet as Peter; Kadedra Dobyne of Joliet as Detective Cole; Vaibhav Thakkar of Crest Hill as George; Claudia Rojas of Romeoville as Sara; and Hope Taylor of Channahon as Callie.
Bobby Smith of Shorewood and Kailey Norton of Minooka are stage managers, with Tim Tholl in charge of scenic design. Tholl and Derek Miller of Clifton are co-lighting designers. JJC’s technical supervisor of the theatre is Nicki Blowers.
