Musica Viva to Feature JJC Faculty Jazz Quintet on Oct. 18

The community is invited to the Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department’s next Musica Viva concert on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre, located on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The concert is free to the public.

The concert will feature the JJC Faculty Jazz Quintet, directed by Fine Arts Assistant Professor Rich Moore. The quintet is made up of Moore, on saxophone; Steve Jacobson, guitar; David Nuccio, piano; Adam Cowger, drums and cymbals; and John Lawler, bass.

JJC’s Musica Viva series, coordinated by Professor of Music Philip Spencer, includes guest performances throughout the academic year by JJC faculty and visiting artists. It is currently being funded by a JJC Foundation Awards for Excellence grant.

The Fine Arts Department has started a new Musica Viva Donors Fund, which will keep future programs free and ensure that the series features high quality musicians. Contributors will receive recognition and reserved choice of seats for the season. For every $50 donation, one free admission to the Feb. 21 New Orleans Brunch will also be provided.

To contribute, or for more information about the Musica Viva series or JJC’s Fine Arts Department, call 815-280-2223 or visit www.jjc.edu/fine-arts.
