Seniors and their families are welcome to learn more about community resources at the “Let’s Play Seniors in Motion” Expo on Wednesday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at Joliet Junior College’s Main Campus located at 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. The Senior Expo is free and will have a St. Patrick’s Day theme this year. Attendees should enter through JJC’s Campus Center or A-Building.
The first 100 seniors who come to this 14th annual expo, presented by JJC and the Seniors in Motion Committee, will receive a free Irish gift mug.
There will be more than 70 senior interest vendors at this year’s Senior Expo, including government agencies, health providers and services dedicated to seniors.
An opportunity for seniors to renew their driver’s licenses and state IDs through the Secretary of State’s office will also be provided, along with a Rules of the Road review course between 9:30 and 11 a.m. To participate in the review course, seniors must register ahead of time by calling Laurie at 815-280-6742.
JJC will offer a few opportunities for attendees as well, including free shows at the Herbert F. Trackman Planetarium, tours of the one-room Cronin Schoolhouse, tours of the JJC Library and a sale at the Bookstore. There will also be a JJC Farmers Market representative on hand to talk about what people can expect at this summer’s market, and the social, economic and environmental benefits of buying locally grown fruits and vegetables.
A lunch of corned beef and cabbage will be available for purchase in the JJC Cafeteria. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, there will be Irish music entertainers in the cafeteria beginning at 11:30 a.m.
