Community members are invited to get a free vehicle assessment at the Joliet Junior College automotive program on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 am to noon in the C-Building on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.Â
Students and automotive professors will assess each vehicle using a checklist of the most common areas of safety concern such as antifreeze levels, tire condition, lights, oil levels and more.
“We love hosting this each year because it’s our way of giving back to the community that helped fund our automotive facility in 2011,” said Automotive Professor Dan Warning. “It’s also a great way for the students to practice one-on-one customer service that they learn in the classroom, and for customers to get a free, professional assessment of their vehicle in a no-pressure environment.”
The 17,000 sq. ft. automotive expansion was completed in 2011 as part of JJC’s Master Plan, providing the program with new classrooms, a commercial service bay and additional storage. It was supported by funds from the 2008 $89 million voter-approved building bond/referendum.
