Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend a presentation by agricultural researcher and JJC alumni Dave Westphal on Friday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the U-Building Auditorium, Room U-1024 on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
The event is free, and is presented by the JJC Department of Agriculture Sciences.
Westphal, the founder and CEO of D3 Consulting, LLC., will share his expertise in international agricultural development and will discuss food security in Africa. A 30-minute question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
“Dave is a tremendous example of the contributions made by a JJC alumni to the challenge of feeding the world’s population more efficiently and at a lower cost,” said Agriculture Professor Bill Johnson. “He has been involved worldwide from China to Africa to bring the benefits of food technology to millions of poor and malnourished people. With the world population expected to exceed 9 billion people by 2050, this challenge is even greater in the future.”
