JJC Art Students Donate Over $500 to Warren Sharpe Community Center

Joliet Junior College students presented a $550 donation this month to the Warren Sharpe Community Center using proceeds from a pottery and art sale they held earlier this year. JJC Art Club Adviser Eric Gorder and students Maddie Jager and Brooke Engel stopped by the center to present the check to Kay Bolden, executive director of the Warren Sharpe Community Center, to use toward the center’s greatest need. Bolden said the money would support a recent community gardening initiative, which currently spans four lots around the facility.

“It’s so fitting that the art students are providing help for our garden,” Bolden said. “We grow food to nourish the body. Art nourishes the soul. We are so grateful to Professor Gorder, the Art Club and JJC for their commitment to our community.”

The center will host its Fourth Annual Garden Kick-Off on April 22 to prepare the grounds for the upcoming season. To learn more, visit www.warren-sharpecommunitycenter.org/.
