After all provisional and grace period ballots were counted and confirmed by the Will County Clerk’s Office, the official results are in for the JJC Board of Trustees election. They are as follows:

The winners for the two sixyear terms are:

  • Daniel O’Connell, 24,201 votes
  • Alicia Morales, 22,074 votes

The winners for the two twoyear terms are:

  • John (Jake) Mahalik, 26,768 votes
  • Susan Marie Klen, 26,457 votes

Sadly, Ms. Klen passed away on March 7 but was included on the ballot because she had already been properly certified. Klen previously served on the board from 2009 to 2015.

The Board will appoint the next top vote-getter, Mike O’Connell, to fill Klen’s position following statutes outlined in the Illinois Public Community Act on May 1. O’Connell received a total of 24,981 votes.

Besides Mahalik, all election winners are incumbents. The four members will be sworn in during the next board meeting on May 1.
