Unofficial Election Results for the April 4 JJC Trustee Election

As of April 5, 2017, unofficial consolidated election results for the winners in the JJC Board of Trustees election are as follows:

For the two open seats for two year terms:

  • John (Jake) Mahalik, 26,395 votes
  • Susan Marie Klen, 25,999 votes

Sadly, on March 7, 2017, Ms. Klen passed away.  At that time, JJC confirmed with the Will County Clerk’s office that Ms. Klen would remain on the ballot for the April election having been properly certified as appearing on the ballot prior to her passing.

Following the results of the April 4 election, the college confirmed that the Will County Clerk will proceed to canvas the election for this office as it normally would, announcing the official winners on April 28,2017 after validation and counting of provisional and grace period ballots. Due to the fact that Ms. Klen is unable to serve, the Board of Trustees will appoint someone to fill the vacancy following the statutes outlined in the Illinois Public Community Act.

For the two open seats for six year terms:

  • Daniel O’Connell, 23,838 votes
  • Alicia Morales, 21,689 votes
