The student trustee sits on the JJC Board of Trustees and works closely with Student Government to ensure the thoughts and opinions of students are represented at board meetings. Deserio is a sophomore majoring in political science with plans to pursue law school after completing his undergraduate work in May 2018.

The board also presented a posthumous award honoring the life of former Trustee Klen, who served one six-year term from 2009 to 2015. Members of Klen’s family accepted the award on her behalf, which recognized Klen’s widespread volunteer work throughout the district and her lasting impact and legacy at the college.
