Joliet Junior College Guitar and Percussion Ensembles to Perform on May 9

The Joliet Junior College Guitar and Percussion Ensembles will perform on Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the college’s Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. This concert is open to the public.

The guitar ensemble, under the direction of Fine Arts Professor Adam Roth, consists of Jonathon Bostjancic of Joliet; Kevin Chase of Plainfield; Isaiah Feliciano of Joliet; XiaoZhen (Grace) Guo of Morris; Gina Russo of Plainfield; and Jonathan Smith of Channahon.

The guitar players will perform “Beaumont Rag” by Doc Watson, “And I Love Her” by The Beatles, “Invention 14” by J.S. Bach, “Courante” by G.F. Handel, “Beginning to See the Light” by Duke Ellington, as well as tradition British and Mexican folk tunes.

The percussion ensemble, under the direction of Fine Arts Professor Adam Cowger, consists of Noah Kasmer of Channahon; Anthony Cable of Crest Hill; Michael Kovach, Rodney McCallister and Desean Moffett of Joliet; Daniel Horgan of Manhattan; Wyatt Onsen of Mazon; Brandon Bulthuis of Mokena; Andrew Kubinski, Marc Rio, Aaron Saucedo, Curtis Snow and Alexis Sujka of Plainfield; and Julian Pizano of Rockdale.

Selections will include compositions by Steve Reich, Glen Kotche, Paquito D’Rivera, Bob Becker, Daniel Letivan, Nathan Daughtrey, and Jonathan Wilmarth.

The program will also feature guest artist JJC Professor Rich Moore.
